Week 21

Mercy withholds what we deserve.  Mercy is when you get caught sneaking out of your house and your parents don’t punish you.  Mercy is when a criminal stands before the judge and gets a life sentence instead of death.   Mercy is when your teacher gives you an A when you deserve a C.   Mercy should be a part of the life of every Christian.  Why is this?  We should show mercy because Christ showed us mercy. Paul puts it like this, Col. 3:12-13 “Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe  ourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.  Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.”  Too often we are quick to blame and hold grudges, but as Christians we should be the first to forgive.  Some of you may have people that you need to forgive.  No, they may not deserve it, but that what mercy is all about. Have prayer for forgivness.  Show mercy as Christ has shown mercy to you.
