Worship Through Hope

Week #48

Jesus Christ is our great hope.  We live in worshipful expectation of His great coming. His first coming was viewed in the same way. After His birth, His mother and father took Him into the temple to be dedicated to the Lord. Here they met two individuals that were anxiously waiting for His birth. The first is Simeon, “At that time there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon. He was righteous and devout and was eagerly waiting for the Messiah to come and rescue Israel.” (Luke 2:25) The second was Anna, “She came along just as Simeon was talking with Mary and Joseph, and she began praising God. She talked about the child to everyone who had been waiting expectantly for God to rescue Jerusalem.” (Luke 2:38) Both of these are described as be eager or expectant, both words that been hopeful.

Those that were waiting for Christ to come the first time were hopeful and expectant. We should be even more hopeful and expectant for His second coming. Titus 2:11-13 “For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. 12 And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, 13 while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.” We wait in anxious, worshipful expectation of our God’s soon return. We have a great hope in Christ.
